Fixed Term (12 month), Full-Time Role
The Harvey Laboratory is looking to employ a motivated Research Assistant to study the role of the Hippo pathway in organ size control and cancer, using the vinegar fly Drosophila.
The person will be highly organized and capable of working in an independent manner within an existing team. The person will work directly with postdoctoral fellows and support their research.
Remuneration as per Allied Health Professionals (Victorian Public Sector) (Single Interest Employers) Enterprise Agreement 2021 – 2026. Research Assistant Level A (1RA2) $75,743.20 per annum to (1RA6) $87,521.20 per annum.

• Drosophila husbandry
• Drosophila genetics
• Drosophila tissue dissections annd processing
• Analysis of fixed Drosophila tissues using different types of microscopy
• Analysis of live Drosophila tissues using different types of microscopy
• Drosophila media preparation
• Data analysis
• Data recording
• Ordering of reagents

Essential Requirements
• B.Sc. Hons (or equivalent experience) or Masters or PhD in cell biology, developmental biology or genetics
• Experience in Drosophila genetics and husbandry
• Experience in imaging Drosophila tissues (both live and fixed)
• High level organisational skills, with demonstrated capacity to establish and achieve goals
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Highly motivated
• Flexibility and ability to develop new skills
