Research Assistant
Who are we looking for?
We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Research Assistant in a part-time permanent (or full-time) role to join the onsite Microba Laboratory Team located at our Molecular and Genomics Diagnostic Laboratory in Woolloongabba. This role will suit someone looking to work atypical hours with shifts starting at 3.00 PM on weekdays and weekends. The role can be formatted into a full-time role for the right candidate.
Term: Permanent Part-time basis (19 ordinary hours per week).
Remuneration: An attractive remuneration package will be negotiated with the successful candidate.
Location: Translational Research Institute, Princess Alexandra Hospital Complex (Woolloongabba)
Rosters: Evening and weekend shifts to give flexibility and to enhance capabilities for our diagnostic laboratory

To apply you must meet the following criteria:
• Experience in molecular biology techniques, including nucleic acid extractions, PCR, ELISA assays.
• Familiarity with next generation sequencing techniques and processes
• Undergraduate degree with Honours in a relevant field OR equivalent laboratory experience over a 3-year period
• Demonstrated experience in meticulous data entry and analysis with strong attention to detail
• Knowledge of quality processes, regulatory requirements, and ethical guidelines
• Intermediate to Advanced Microsoft Office skillset
• High-level problem-solving, communication and collaboration skills
• A curious and innovative approach to achieving team and vision success.
The role is within the diagnostics laboratory team, reporting to the Laboratory Director. The position will focus on the provision of pathology services but additionally supports a range of teams to provide laboratory services across the Microba Life Sciences group, including research services, development of microbiome-based therapeutics and maintenance of laboratory-based partnerships. This role drives technical excellence through quality services, ultimately supporting Microba’s strategic decision-making and global impact.
