The Opportunity:

Woden ACT; Adelaide SA preferred (however other NIAA office locations may also be considered)

The Territories Stolen Generations Redress Scheme (the Scheme) Research Case Manager role collaborates with a range of key internal and external stakeholders on a range of sensitive matters and contributes to the development and implementation of relevant information and case management policy and procedures. The Research Case Manager undertakes complex and detailed research and analysis to support the management and assessment of applications to the Scheme. They are a key contributor to delivering high quality outcomes for clients of the Scheme.

Specifically, the role contributes to the operation of the Territories Stolen Generation Redress Scheme by:

•                   demonstrating research and critical analysis skills to investigate information from a wide range of data sources in a variety of formats. This includes high quality problem solving to identify new information sources that may add depth and detail when it is not readily available or evident

•                   providing advice on research and analysis principles and techniques, resources and approaches to peers and senior staff

•                   participating in the development and implementation of records management, research and analysis. This includes identifying ways to improve client support and the provision of information by clients throughout the case management lifecycle

•                   modelling high quality client engagement and case management skills to support applicants with sensitivity and professionalism. This includes exemplary communication techniques, an ability to draw out additional information and hidden content, creative thinking and attention to detail

•                   preparation of research reports and responding to enquiries in order to support the Independent Assessors and Delegates to make determinations against applications to the Scheme in line with the eligibility criteria.

Our Ideal Candidate

To succeed in the role as a Research Case Manager role you will have:

•                   evidence of strong research literacy and analytical skills, with a substantial understanding of the complexities of Indigenous historical records research and the role of government and non-government organisations that provide access to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander records in a culturally sensitive and appropriate manner and in accordance with privacy, copyright legislation and people’s rights over their cultural materials

•                   the resourcefulness in thoroughly interrogating historical records databases effectively and developing a deep understanding and knowledge of collections that exist across a number of jurisdictions in relation to Aboriginal history

•                   understanding of the context in which historical records were created and the sensitive details contained in those records which can be harmful or upsetting

•                   customer focused people skills including; effective listening skills, empathy, patience, attentiveness, personable manner and a trauma informed approach to service delivery in all aspects of your work

•                   developed writing skills with the ability to contextualise to suit your audience in a logical, effective and individual manner using culturally appropriate language

•                   proficiency in maintaining comprehensive and detailed case management records and navigating records ensuring high level attention to detail

•                   strong organisational skills and demonstrated ability to manage competing priorities while taking personal responsibility for accurate completion of work and quality requirements.

Eligibility:

·    To be eligible for this position you must be an Australian Citizen.

·    The occupant must be able to obtain and maintain a Baseline Vetting (Protected) level security clearance, or hold a current security clearance of an appropriate level. 

·    The successful candidate will be required to be assessed through our pre-employment screening checks, such as an Australian Criminal History Check
