The role
We are seeking an experienced part-time (3 or 4 days per week) Research Fellow at an Academic Level A or B to be one of our quantitative research experts in a dynamic health services research team. The role will involve conducting analysis of health data sets, and may involve qualitative research methods in future projects.
About you
You'll be a positive, honest team player, with a ‘can-do’ attitude, focused on doing whatever it takes to get the job done, and responsible for ensuring all tasks are completed in a timely, accurate and professional manner.
Key responsibilities
- Contribute to one or more health services research projects, focussing on projects that require quantitative public health research skills.
- Establish and manage project documentation and databases
- Completion of project tasks, with support from other team members as appropriate – This includes development of the research protocol and related documentation, ethics application, data collection, data analysis, reporting and publication of findings
- In addition to leading at least one project, all team members will collaborate on or contribute towards a variety of projects based on their individual skills and expertise
- Supervise PhD, Masters, Honours & placement/internship students as appropriate
- Contribute to grant proposals that attract external competitive funding e.g., MRFF, NHMRC & foundations
Qualifications and minimum requirements
Essential
- Research Master, enrolled in a PhD or completed PhD in public health, epidemiology, psychology or equivalent
- Demonstrated research track record including reports, conference presentations and/or peer-reviewed publications, with expertise in quantitative research
- Demonstrated high level conceptual and analytical skills, and ability to critically appraise and interpret complex information
- Demonstrated ability to independently manage research projects including developing project protocols and ethics applications, and delivering milestones and outcomes to agreed timelines and budgets
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written with the ability to liaise with a wide variety of stakeholders
- Exceptional time management and organisational skills including the ability to prioritise, meet deadlines and coordinate multiple competing demands
- Strong team player with flexibility to work both autonomously and as part of a close-knit team
- Willingness to demonstrate enthusiasm and motivation for the role and uphold the values of the UnitingCare group (Compassion, Respect, Justice, Working Together, Leading Through Learning)
- Demonstrated experience of Microsoft Office including Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, along with relevant data management and analysis software
Desirable
- Understanding of health services operation and management
- Experience in consumer-led research
