This is an opportunity for your career to make a difference! Work on one of the major Research Programs within The George Institute and make an impact on global health outcomes. We are looking for a Research Fellow to join our Cardiovascular Program.
The Opportunity:
This Role would be supporting the Blood Pressure Program which resides within the Cardiovascular Program. The primary goal of the Blood Pressure Program is to address the challenges with hypertension management and improve Blood Pressure control within Australia.
The Research Fellow is required to play a role in the ongoing conduct of existing studies, as well as assisting in the development of new proposals.
Key Responsibilities and Duties:
- Provide a consistent level of contribution to the research activities of the program
- Work with the Program Head or Program Director in developing new study proposals
- Take the lead and assist with the preparation of grant applications
- Take the lead and assist with manuscript preparation
- Maintain existing collaborations and establish others
- Provide support and co-supervision of post-graduate students
- Ensure that research being conducted is congruent with world best practice
- Remain abreast of developments in the related to the program that are relevant to the study and the Institute; providing a source of information to colleagues within the Institute
- Actively develop and promote the desired culture of The George Institute by ensuring all interactions, documentation and communication are conducted in a manner which supports the stated mission.
Our Successful Candidate is:
- Relevant health/medical/science PhD qualification within the past 5-10 years
- Experience in statistical analysis, preferably with experience in STATA and SAS statistical software programs
- Experience in the development and coordination of health research projects and/or clinical trials, ideally in the broad area of hypertension or raised Blood Pressure (e.g. cardiovascular diseases, diabetes, chronic kidney diseases)
- Demonstration of publication track record in area of relevant field of research (ideally in the area of Blood Pressure, hypertension or cardiovascular disease)
- Developing track record with successful scholarships and/or fellowships
- Experience in developing grant applications
- Strong leadership and mentoring skills
- Ability to be flexible and adaptable in the face of changing organisational priorities and ambiguous environments
- Availability and willingness to travel.
Desirable
- Experience with clinical trial management
- Experience in government engagement and liaison
- Experience with policy writing and/or submissions
