About This Opportunity
The primary purpose of this position is to provide research management to various projects as part of the Rural Health Multidisciplinary Training (RHMT) funding parameters of the Rural Clinical School. This role will manage the research programs to ensure they meet the needs of external and internal stakeholders and informs the Commonwealth governments rural health policy agenda. This role involves a mix of research management, project management and direct research support of projects across the RCS.
Key responsibilities will include:
Research Management: Provide management, leadership, operational support, and advice to research active staff of the RCS.
Manage and support the research teaching and training activities under the MD Design and regional medical pathways.
Work with relevant teams within and external to the University to efficiently manage contractual and ethics frameworks for the conduct of research activities, ensuring that they meet RHMT funding parameters.
Liaise with HDR students and chair the HDR student group meetings of the RCS.
Research Project Management: Oversee and manage the resources and administration aspects of the RCS research group across a wide range of research projects, functions, and activities, including infrastructure and provide significant input into the preparation of research projects grants, and at times taking the overall responsibility for managing specific research projects from concept to conclusion including budgetary requirements and timelines.
Conduct of Research: Lead and manage major funding applications on behalf of the RCS research team, including writing, partner and consortium relationship building, contract/MOU management, communications, timeline adherence.
This is a full-time (100%), fixed-term position through to 31st December 2024.
At HEW level 7, the full-time equivalent base salary will be in the range $94,754 - $103,180, plus a generous super allowance of up to 17%. The total FTE package will be up to $110,862 - $120,721annually. As this role is covered by an Enterprise Agreement, you will also receive regular remuneration increases – at least once a year.
About You
Qualifications and training equivalent to postgraduate qualifications or progress towards postgraduate qualifications in research, or extensive research/management experience and expertise, or an equivalent combination of relevant research management experience and/or education/training.
Ability to strategically analyse complex problems, making recommendations regarding research strategy and planning at the RCS.
High level of communication skills, with the ability to take technical research concepts and communicate them to a non-research minded audience and to different stakeholder groups.
Ability to monitor research teams and research processes, including HR, budgets, grant applications, research reports and other performance outputs.
High level of problem-solving skills demonstrating discretion, innovation and sound analytical skills enabling the effective progression of research projects.
Ability to prioritise own workload, work independently and meet deadlines. Excellent interpersonal skills including the ability to communicate effectively with clients by telephone, email and in person.
Sound knowledge and understanding of research management principles and University policies and procedures.
