The Opportunity
Our Children's Lung Health Team here at the Telethon Kids Institute has an exciting new opportunity for a Research Officer to join the team and support a range of research projects.
The team investigates lung growth and development through infancy, childhood, adolescence and early adulthood, in health and in chronic lung disease, and the impact of preterm birth on Lung Health outcomes.
Reporting to the Program Manager or Team Leads, your areas of focus in this position will include undertaking project activities, managing and analysing data and supporting the dissemination of research outcomes.
Some of your responsibilities will include:
  • Prepare and assist grant and ethics applications and follow-up reports for clinical studies.
  • Design and manage participant recruitment procedures.
  • Manage data collection and perform statistical analysis.
  • Disseminate research findings through high impact peer-reviewed publications and conference abstracts/ proceedings.
  • Support the translation of research findings to practice and policy.
  • Engage in consumer participation.
Based in Nedlands, this position will be offered on a part-time basis (0.2FTE) for 12 months in the first instance.
About You
To be successful in this role, you will have demonstrated significant experience in respiratory physiology understanding and assessment as well as the following experiences and skillsets:
  • Postgraduate qualification in an area relevant to respiratory physiology.
  • Academic experience in respiratory health.
  • Experience in scientific paper preparation and submission, including grants and ethics applications.
  • Demonstrated capacity to work with children of all ages.
  • High level of written and oral communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to set goals, develop priorities, and meet deadlines.
  • Experience working effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
