About the role
Mater Research (MR) has a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Research Officer to join our leading Neurosciences Research group. This is a full-time position being offered as a 24-month maximum-term contract.
Mater Intellectual Disability and Autism Service (MIDAS) is seeking an exceptional leader to join their team. This newly created position is to lead the health services stream of the National Centre of Excellence in Intellectual Disability Health.

Salary: $98,658 - $106,057 plus superannuation and access to not-for-profit salary packaging up to $15,900
What you’ll be doing
MIDAS, together with UNSW, is a lead member of a Consortium that have established the National Centre of Excellence in Intellectual Disability Health (the National Centre). The National Centre is a new major initiative supported by the Australian Government, Department of Health and Aged Care. The National Centre will provide leadership in Intellectual Disability health, drive innovation and collaboration, lift the capability of health services to meet the needs of people with Intellectual Disability through training and development of best practice models of care and lead initiatives in data and research to inform improvements in health and wellbeing. The work of the National Centre will be undertaken by four teams: Driving Change, Health Service Development, Resource & Innovation, and Research & Data. MIDAS leads the Health Service Development team. The Research Officer will lead research and project related activity relevant to the health services development component of the National Centre of Excellence (NCoE) in Intellectual Disability Health.
The Research Officer may also be required to work on other health / disability related research projects in their role.

About you
The successful candidate will possess the following knowledge, experience, or attributes:
Essential
PhD in the area of Disability, Health or related field
A strong background in Intellectual and Developmental Disability health research
Experience in research ethics, governance preparation and submission
Experience in conducting research with people with Intellectual Disability, autism or psychosocial disability
Demonstrated ability to lead the development, conduct, monitoring, analyse and interpretation of health service research methods
Demonstrated high level interpersonal skills necessary for negotiating and liaising effectively with a diverse range of staff, patients and other stakeholders
Demonstrated ability to identify, analyse and solve problems to provide accurate and appropriate outcomes
Demonstrated ability to produce high quality written materials in different styles and formats appropriate to the audience.
Knowledge of data management systems
Experience in health care evaluation and methodology
Highly proficient computer literacy with excellent skills in Microsoft Office applications
Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
