The Research Scientist will form a part of the Crop Quality team located at the Grains Innovation Park, Horsham Victoria. The Crop Quality team undertakes multi-disciplinary research in plant-based sciences covering the major cereal, pulse, and oilseed crops. A range of seed phenotyping techniques are undertaken to quantify key market characteristics, grain composition and functionality for end-product processes. Our research is world leading where we develop high-throughput analyses that are undertaken using sensor-based technologies.
The Research Scientist will assist in carrying out research benchmarking pulses for nutritional and functional properties relevant to R&D in the pulse industry. The position will have capability in grain science, chemistry, and biochemistry. The role will be responsible for developing methodologies, applying innovative technologies, analysing the composition of grain and plant samples, and ensuring data integrity through collation and processing into tracible formats.
The Research Scientist will engage within a highly motivated team who possess complementary skills in grain-science, chemometrics, computational sciences, and genetics
Specialist/Technical Expertise/Qualifications
- An appropriate degree and experience in Agricultural Science, Science, or an equivalent qualification.
- Knowledge of grain quality and market value. Demonstrated understanding of grain composition and functionality in context of the Australian Grains Industry, with a focus on plant-based proteins.
- Proven ability to undertake and interpret statistical analysis of data for collation and inclusion in project reports.
This is a fixed term position available for a period of 24 Months. The work location for this position is Horsham within Victoria.
