ABOUT THE POSITION
Our business seeks a Research Scientist to work on a permanent basis, spending the majority of time at our R&D lab in Bibra Lake and some adhoc time at our Kwinana Refinery.
Reporting to the Team Lead Research and Development, the successful applicant will be responsible for planning research studies and projects and, most importantly, executing these programs safely and efficiently. These research programs are geared towards process optimisations and to assess future business opportunities for TLEA.

- They will be able to plan and conduct various test programs in a timely and resource-efficient manner, navigating numerous research projects to deliver with a service-oriented mentality and be able to cater to internal requests for technical assistance in a timely manner.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Develop and execute research plans to address key scientific questions and project objectives mainly in lithium refining.
- Work closely with the R&D Lead and process team to plan research programs and liaise closely with R&D Supervisor to conduct internal test programs and analyses.
- Assist in the execution of research collaborative projects with universities and industries.
- Communication of research outcomes to interested parties including internal and external collaborators.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, fostering a culture of open communication and knowledge-sharing.
- Troubleshoot and solve complex scientific problems as they arise during research projects.
- Prepare and present research findings at internal meetings, conferences, and other scientific forums.
- Generate clear and concise documentation of experimental procedures, results, and conclusions.
- Keep up to date with the latest technological advancements in lithium processing to design innovative research programs.
ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS
- Metallurgical, chemical engineering, or industrial research background.
- Minimum of five years of research experience or demonstrated experience in a similar role.
- Knowledge of metallurgical/chemical flowsheet development processes.
- Demonstrated experience in planning and executing experiments independently.
- Effective interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills with ability to convey complex scientific concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Familiarity with chemical process equipment.
- Experience in formulating process models.
- Experience working in collaborative research environments.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a cross-functional team.
- Excellent technical report writing skills.
