About the role

The Respiratory Laboratory is committed to providing a high quality clinical service and we are seeking experienced candidates with an appropriate science degree to work as a Respiratory Scientist. Functions of this role are below:

• Responsible for the performance of routine and complex lung function tests.
• Involved in maintenance and quality assurance of equipment and procedures.
• Participation in projects including the maintenance and development of laboratory protocols as required under the direction of a senior Scientist.
• Show a commitment to further professional development.
• Be prepared to work at any Respiratory Laboratory across Eastern Health as required.

About you 

To be successful in this role you will possess:

Essential

• Bachelor of Science or equivalent

Desirable

• Previous experience as a Respiratory Scientist
• Certified Respiratory Function Scientist (CRFS)
• Post-graduate studies in the field of respiratory science or physiology
• Membership of the Australian and New Zealand Society of Respiratory Science
• Experience performing Cardiopulmonary Exercise Tests
• Experience performing Arterial blood gas sampling     
• Able to establish rapport with patients performing tests of maximum effort.
• Demonstrate effective communication skills both written and verbal.
• Able to pay attention to detail.
• Computer literate.
• Demonstrate organisational skills particularity with respect to time management.
• Demonstrate an ability to work independently as well as part of a multidisciplinary team.
• Be innovative, resourceful and adaptable to change.
• Analytical approach to troubleshooting.
• Self-motivated and punctual.
• Energetic, methodical and enthusiastic.
