About the role
Scope Healthcare is a multidisciplinary specialist clinic group involved in Respiratory, Sleep Disorders and Cardiology services. We are looking for 2 Respiratory & Sleep Scientists to join our team.
1 X full-time based in Melbourne &
1 X Part-time to initially work 2-3 day fortnight for a new clinic start up in Springwood Brisbane
Tasks & responsibilities
- To provide high quality Respiratory and Sleep Diagnostic services to the patients, doctors and staff at assigned Scope Healthcare practice locations in a caring and supportive manner.
- To perform high quality Respiratory/Lung Function Tests for patients with (or suspected of having) respiratory dysfunction, including spirometry and measurement of lung volumes.
- To assist patients with Home Based Sleep study units.
- To provide training and guidance to the other technicians in LFT & Home Based Sleep studies ensuring they are able to perform the tests to company standards.
- Calibration and preparation of equipment
- Actively participate in the development, implementation and evaluation of policies and practices relevant to the specialty.
- You will also be required to perform additional tests such as ECG Holter Monitors, BP monitors and ECGs with a high degree of proficiency and patient care.
Qualifications & experience
- Qualified Respiratory/Sleep Scientist would be highly regarded
- Clinical experience in respiratory &/or sleep testing is highly regarded.
- Previous qualifications in healthcare, science, and/or previous experience in pulmonary function testing are desirable but not essential.
- Requires skills in operating computer-based, specialised testing equipment and must be able to interact with and encourage patients to achieve maximal performance on tests.
Qualifications
Bachelor of Science Degree or Bachelor of Applied Science (Medical Laboratory Science) or equivalent.
Highly regarded:
- Registration and Certification as a Respiratory Scientist with the Australia and New Zealand Thoracic Society (ANZSRS)
- Clinical experience in lung function testing
