Job Advertisement: Respite and Flexi Respite Co-Ordinator 

CARINBUNDI is an organisation based in Bundaberg, providing a range of exceptional support to eligible people with a disability for more than 20 years.

We are currently seeking to appoint a Respite and Flexi Respite Co-Ordinator  with administration duties.

Key Roles and Responsibilities

This position will firstly support the Respite Manager

  • Securing and retaining clients through proactive program and service delivery
  • Meet internal and external client needs in a timely and courteous manner 
  • Supporting the Centre Based Respite / Flex Manager in securing and retaining clients through proactive program and service delivery. 
  • Supporting with the Examination client/carer/parent requests to properly identify and resolve their concerns. This includes identifying current and future needs, accommodation options, day to day support options and supporting families to secure these options. 
  • Support with implementation of appropriate short term and emergency respite services for carers
  • Maintenance of accurate Client and Service Provider records including NDIS requirements
  • Work individually and collaboratively with Centre Based Respite / Flex Manager to maintain a high quality, professional service for all carers and other callers to Carinbundi
  • Remain dedicated to safeguarding the safety and dignity of clients, carers, staff, members, and anyone who has contact with Carinbundi
  • Assist Centre Based Respite / Flex Manager to conduct respite reviews, and reviews of individual supports ensuring client needs are being met and forward goals have been set 
  • Develop an understanding of the role and importance of respite care and individual support for families, and liaise with key workers, families, and other Service Providers to ensure clients’ needs are met 
  • Ensure the implementation of each client’s documented needs, interests, and care requirements - as detailed in Individual Support Plans. 
  • Support the Centre Based Respite / Flex Manager to supervise client healthcare needs, seek medical assistance where required, and ensure family is kept informed
  • Provide direct care assistance to clients in a sensitive manner, ensuring privacy always, and ensure all staff maintain a high standard in these practices
  • Ensure confidentiality in all matters relating to the clients, families, and services
  • Actively liaise with families, and develop positive communication between families and staff
  • Establish positive relationships with families, or significant others, in the person’s life

This position will also assist the with:

  • Administration activities such as but not limited too, client bookings, rosters and client notes.
  • Risk assessments 
  • Assist Respite Manager to identify gaps in service provision 
  • Support the Centre Based Respite / Flex Manager with the supervision of staff to develop and implement plans and programs that meet the goals identified, in consultation with individual clients/families and carers

Assist Management when required

1. Certificate III in disability or relevant experience within the industry; 
2. Excellent consultation, communication, and interpersonal skills - with the demonstrated capacity to represent Carinbundi and its programs to a wide range of stakeholders ;
3. Commitment to a family centred approach and a demonstrated understanding and commitment to principals of choice and control, individualised support and planning and community inclusion;
4. Demonstrated experience in, and contemporary understanding of the Disability Sector in its current environment, including the NDIS and may work with the NDIA;
5. Demonstrated skills and experience in working with children, young adults, and adults with disabilities and their families; 
6. Demonstrated ability to provide a direct service to clients as well as operate in management capacity when required;
7. Demonstrated ability to manage and prioritise a range of tasks, plan workloads, and work to deadlines;
8. Intermediate computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office; and

Applicants will need to undergo a physical capacity assessment and drug and alcohol test prior to employment. Applicants must also have a positive notices card (Working with Children Blue Card) and a Disability Services Positive Notice Exemption Card (Yellow Card), or be willing to obtain prior to employment.
