This is your opportunity to be part of this exceptional Lodge, leading the day-to-day service delivery of this quality property. As the Restaurant Manager you will report directly to the Food and Beverage Director, who oversees the operations of both the F&B at Jamala and the National Zoo. You will be responsible for the operation of Jamala’s dining room and managing and developing your team.
Dinner consists of a single sitting with generally 30 – 50 guests. The dining is exceptional, with guests commonly rating it as the best they have had, even apart from the unique experience of dining next to white lions, hyenas or a shark tank.
This is a hands-on position that involves the F&B Manager rotating with the F&B Director to fill a role as a manager, maître d and assisting staff with breakfast, dinner and afternoon tea service throughout the week. The successful applicant will therefore need to be capable of running the Jamala Dining Room on their own for extended periods. The rotation will require weekend and some night-time shifts. (10pm latest finish)
As the successful candidate you will have:
- At least 2 years experience in F&B, ideally in a management role.
- A demonstrated ability to train, motivate and manage your team. This will be a major component, allowing the Director to concentrate on other areas.
- A proven commitment to upholding excellent customer service standards
- A manner and disposition appropriate to a small boutique and exclusive lodge, where professionalism combines with a relaxed and informal atmosphere
- Ensure Food Safety and OHS regulations are adhered to
- Excellent personal presentation
