Benefits Competitive salary Career growth opportunities Health and wellness benefits Task & Responsibilities Select and purchase a diverse range of products, including groceries, cheese, dairy products, vegetables, fruits, and various other items for resale in the Supermarket. Identify and establish relationships with suitable suppliers and wholesalers, maintaining strong partnerships for a consistent supply of high-quality products.
Develop and implement purchasing strategies that align with the Store budget, quality standards, and inventory requirements. Source and procure high-quality ingredients, supplies, and products needed for daily operations, ensuring cost-effectiveness and adherence to quality standards. Negotiate contracts and terms with suppliers to secure the best prices and terms of delivery.
Maintain strong relationships with existing suppliers while seeking new suppliers to enhance product quality and cost-efficiency. Conduct market research to stay informed about industry trends, seasonal ingredients, and new products that could enhance the menu and customer satisfaction. Manage inventory levels efficiently to minimise waste and ensure the availability of necessary items.
Collaborate with the management teams to understand their product needs and preferences. Handle the administrative tasks associated with purchasing, including placing orders, tracking deliveries, and managing purchase records. Planning, managing, selecting and purchasing goods and merchandise; Building relations with new suppliers; Monitor market changes, competitor prices and products; Perform consumer research to determine product demand; Keeping an accurate stock record; Managing the pricing and promotional strategies.
Qualification & Experience AQF Certificate III or AQF Certificate IV 2 years of proven experience as a Retail Buyer or in a similar procurement role, preferably in this retail industry. Strong understanding of the retail buying and experience negotiating with suppliers. Excellent organisational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
Strong analytical skills, with the ability to make informed decisions based on market research and financial analysis. Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively across teams. Knowledge of inventory management practices and systems.
