Our customer base is both local and global. We sell to Costco globally; Australia, New Zealand, USA (all 52 states), Canada, Mexico, China, Taiwan, Japan, Korea, UK, Spain, France and Iceland. Since the start of 2024 we have begun investigating products made in the US, Canada, India, Turkey, Malaysia, Korea, Vietnam and new Thai factories, equalling approximately 40 items, to be sold to our customers locally and globally. 

Job Description:

As a Retail Buyer at CAL Marketing Pty Ltd, you'll be responsible for sourcing and procuring merchandise that meets our brand's standards and resonates with our target audience. Your role will involve analyzing market trends, negotiating with suppliers, and maintaining optimal inventory levels to maximize sales and profitability. Collaborating closely with our team, you'll play a vital role in driving the success of our retail operations through strategic purchasing decisions and effective inventory management.

Responsibilities:

• Negotiating purchase, promotion and supply arrangements with suppliers
• Evaluate supplier options according to prices, quality and determine the best choice
• Designing and implementing pricing
• Liaising with management on long-term planning and sales promotions
• Establishing working plans according to seasonal and budgetary requirements
• Determining quantity, style and quality of goods to be purchased
• Working with the new product development team to introduce new products and begin the development process
• Forge and maintain trust relationships with suppliers to promote fair dealing
• Ability to work with local and international manufacturers who operate in different time zones such as Thailand, Taiwan and China.
• Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment. 
• Knowledge of ethnic Asian snacks and the subsequent market both locally and internationally.
• Being and continue conversations new manufacturers that are encountered in trade shows.
• Our current range spans a number of categories including sweet snacks, salty snacks, bakery, dried fruit, chocolate, seafood snacks, crackers, confectionary, holiday items, alcohol and pet food. 

Qualifications and Skills

·       AQF Certificate III or IV in Marketing, Merchandising or a related field.

·       At least 2 years of experience or on-the-job training.

·       Strong analytical skills, including the ability to interpret sales data, forecast trends, and make data-driven purchasing decisions.

·       Excellent negotiation skills to effectively communicate with suppliers, secure favourable pricing and terms, and maintain positive vendor relationships.

·       Proficiency in retail software and technology, such as inventory management systems, purchasing software, and Microsoft Excel, to manage inventory levels, track purchases, and analyse sales performance.

·       Excellent communication, collaboration, and project management skills.

·       Detail-oriented with a passion for delivering high-quality work that exceeds expectations.
