The role:
In 12 months time, the world's biggest battery will be fully operational, and we need a robust risk and compliance framework to govern it. Have you got what it takes to set it up?
Off the back of the first of it's kind insurance master program for BESS projects in Australia, you'll work with brokers to set up similar in other markets by selling the competencies of Akaysha and the systems and processes that make our projects lower risk, and have a meaningful impact on the bottom line of the projects by sourcing reduced premiums.
This position will collaborate with internal stakeholders and external consultants to develop, maintain and proactively manage a risk & compliance framework for Akaysha's operating portfolio of BESS Projects and Akaysha itself. The initial region of focus is Australia, however responsibilities will expand to include global coverage in the future. You'll be developing global risk policies, compliance processes, training and reporting.
In addition, this position will understand the overall insurance needs of the organisation and identify and address insurance risks associated with any business activities. You'll manage the maintenance, development, performance, governance, administration and delivery of the insurance provision for the organisation to produce an efficient service and delivery solution, maximising efficiency, performance and best value.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Work with external consultants day to day to accelerate the implementation of risk and compliance uplift plan
- Tech stack deployed to manage risk and compliance activities
- Develop Operational risk and compliance plan including: baseline, gap analysis, framework, risk matrix and register, and implementation road map
- Deploy policies, processes, standards, procedures
- Work and collaborate with key internal stakeholders, legal, project team, accounting, IT, HR, and operations
- Liaise with our Akaysha legal team to manage risk within project agreements
- Act as point of Contact for internal and external parties regarding the insurance program, process, and cover.
- Insurance Placement – Work with insurance broker and other stakeholders to obtain information needed to quote insurance and see process through to bind
- Track, pursue, and account for premium payments and adjustments.
- Preparation and coordination of information for insurance policy renewals.
- Track, maintain and prepare reports on policy information
- Claims submission
- Review of contracts and agreements as required.
What you'll bring:
- A passion for compliance, risk management and Insurance and the benefits it can deliver in the context of Akaysha to enable the energy transition.
- 10 years of experience in risk and compliance
- Ability to understand and balance the needs of different business divisions
- Strong understanding of the National Electricity Rules and other electrical generation and transmission energy requirements.
- Exposure to insurance in previous roles would be highly desirable - ideally experience working with broker on insurance placement and renewals
- Experience establishing risk and compliance processes and systems
