We are seeking an experienced and passionate Early Childhood Leader in Birth to Three practice to join our team at Church Street Children's Centre. A brand new purpose-built facility that ensures children feel happy, calm, and ready to learn. Engaging and flexible indoor and outdoor play spaces filled with plenty of natural resources to support children's development.
Children’s learning, thinking and development occur when there is consistent, reliable, warm and responsive relationships.
As our Nursery Room Leader, you will have a strong understanding of developmental perspectives, place based pedagogy, secure attachment theory and other contemporary research that supports children’s development.
The successful applicant for this role will view young children (birth to three years) as born ready to learn, as thinkers and natural problem solvers. You will be aware that for infants and toddlers to flourish in their learning and development, they require the provision of materials, resources, environments and interactions that support their innate sense of curiosity and wonder. You recognise and value the importance of babies and toddlers using all of their senses and often, their whole bodies to explore, problem solve and learn.
You will guide practice that ensures:
• Educators are present and responsive in care moments
• Educators are slow and gentle in their language and movements
• Time and space for uninterrupted play
• Calm and engaging environments
• Partnerships with families to support a shared understanding of their child’s learning
• Planned responses and intentional play spaces to supporting future learning
• Respectful relationships with babies and toddlers, allowing time for the child to build relationships
• Learning with babies and toddlers and holding space within all moments of their day
• Infant and toddler documentation reflects the complexity of the many ways that babies and toddlers are making sense of their world
• Documentation recognises the growth and continuing pattern of play for each individual child during this unique time in their life
***This role is supported by an Infant Specialist Practice Coach two days per week
Essential criteria for a Room Leader:
• Diploma in Early Childhood or equivalent ACECQA approved qualification
• Experience working in a long day care centre and in a leadership role
• Have a sound knowledge of and experience with implementing the Early Years Learning Framework, National Quality Standards and Child Safety Standard
• Current Working with Children's Check and National Police Check
• Current Level 2 First Aid, CPR, Anaphylaxis & Asthma Certificate
