St Michael's Association Inc. is a not-for-profit non-government organisation of approximately 200 employees working across North and Northwest Tasmania. Supporting, empowering and providing accommodation services to Tasmanian's living with a disability, to develop their independence, has been how St Michael's has operated for over 50 years. This is an exciting opportunity to join the St Michael's team and contribute to this mission.

About the Role  

The Rostering Officer is responsible for providing a range of timely and accurate administrative support and rostering services to ensure Support Workers are utilised efficiently to provide high quality support outcomes for the participants of St Michael’s. The position is the key point of contact for Support Workers and is responsible for ensuring the rosters are maintained and updated.

This is a fast paced, phone-based role that is integral for rostering Support Workers in the provision of disability support services to St Michael’s Participants.

The position is permanent full time. 

Key responsibilities include:

• Provide exemplary customer service and ensure rosters reflect the operational needs of the Association
• Coordination of rolling fortnightly rosters, shift swaps, TBAs and staff changes, ensuring all shifts are filled in a timely manner
• Coordination of buddy shifts for new staff, liaising with the People and Culture team and Program Area Coordinators as required
• Ensure rostering practices and procedures meet all required Industrial and Legislative requirements
• Liaison with Support Workers as required
• Provide best practice administrative support
• Participate in team meetings
• Communicate in a professional and respectful manner to fellow team members, other staff and Participants

About You:

You will be able to clearly demonstrate the following:

  1. Previous working experience in rostering and/or workforce scheduling, providing best practice customer service.
  2. Experience working in a fast-paced customer service / call centre environment. 
  3. Ability to follow instructions and meet tight deadlines.
  4. Ability to receive feedback on areas of improvement in relation to work practices.
  5. Excellent interpersonal communication and negotiation skills
  6. Systems capability in the use of Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word etc) and MYP rostering software (highly desirable)
  7. Ability to adopt a professional approach to own accountability.
  8. Affinity with nonprofit organisations and respect for their philosophy and values
  9. Demonstrated commitment to continual professional and personal development.
  10. Proven ability to manage workload to achieve business outcomes.
  11. Proven administrative and organisational skills with strong attention to detail.

A Tertiary qualification in Business Administration and/or relevant experience will be highly regarded.

To be considered for and employed to a role at St Michael's, you must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19. You will be required to provide evidence of your vaccination status during the recruitment process.

Successful candidates will be required to clear background checks including National Police and pre-employment medical checks, a NDIS Workers Screening Check and Working with Vulnerable Check.
