Job description

Are you passionate about adventure? Join the Tasmanian Walking Company and become part of an eco-tourism family that’s been hitting the trails for more than three decades.

The Tasmanian Walking Company (TWC) have been walking for over 30 years, offering amazing wilderness experiences to our guests in some of Tasmania's most special and remote wilderness locations. We work to deliver a truly immersive experience as we create connections between people and place in remote cultural landscapes through our boutique multi-day walking experiences.

Whilst our roots lie in Tassie, we operate on mainland Australia as The Australian Walking Company (AWC) and are excited to be experiencing a growth phase in the business as we introduce a number of new walks.

We pride ourselves on having a culture that promotes sustainability, equal opportunities, accountability and continuous improvement, respect, integrity, and genuine fun (it’s even one of our values!) so that we can be leaders in our industry and are welcoming to individuals from all walks of life.

Why Us?

This is a permanent full-time position, working with a team of passionate professionals who engage with your ongoing development and learning. The team inhabit a heritage listed Chalmers Church located in the heart of the Launceston CBD. A convict-built landmark that was thoughtfully restored into a functional open plan office, staying true to the gothic revival architecture that makes this building truly unique.

With sunlight streaming through the original stained windows, Chalmers is a vibrant and stylish office that’s also reflective of the fun and supportive culture of our team.

About the Role

The Rostering Officer will work closely with the Delivery team and is responsible for utilising systems and rules to build and publish accurate rosters for our guides, hosts, skippers, crew and drivers across all of our walks. • Provide ongoing training and support to staff members regarding rostering inquiries, changes, and concerns.
  • Maintain up-to-date operational documentation, including rostering procedures and guidelines.
  • Provide ongoing support and implement fatigue management strategies to ensure the physical and mental wellbeing of casual staff members, fostering a positive and healthy work environment.
  • Coordinate with relevant departments to ensure smooth communication and efficient rostering outcomes.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives by identifying opportunities to streamline processes and enhance system functionality.
  • Stay informed about industry trends and developments in rostering practices to ensure best-in-class service delivery.

What you will bring

This is an excellent opportunity for an individual experienced in scheduling and rostering. You will be adaptive, process driven and highly organised. In addition, you will have:

  • Proven experience using rostering systems
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (intermediate to advanced)
  • Demonstrated experience analysing and interpreting data
  • Understanding of business resourcing requirements and how this translates to rostering.
  • Excellent attention to detail and the ability to maintain accuracy in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify and address rostering challenges proactively.
  • Exceptional organisational and time management abilities, with the capacity to prioritise tasks effectively.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a customer-focused and service-oriented approach.
  • Flexibility to work outside regular business hours, including evenings and weekends, as required by operational needs.
  • Experience using Employment Hero is not required but would be highly regarded
  • Experience in the hospitality and tourism industry would be highly regarded
  • Be an Australian Citizen or hold a current Australian Work Visa.

What we can offer you:

  • Opportunities for ongoing training, social and professional development events.
