Salary: $113,794 - $122,255pa (N4.1 – 4.3)
$110,100 - $117,125pa (ATSIHP6.1 – 6.3)

Anyinginyi Health Aboriginal Corporation (AHAC) is a multi-disciplinary organisation which provides primary health care services to the Aboriginal people of Tennant Creek and the surrounding Barkly region, dedicated to ‘Closing the Gap’ in Aboriginal health within remote Australia.
Anyinginyi consists of five different sections (Health Services, Business Services, Public Health Unit, Sports and Recreation, and Piliyintinji-Ki Stronger Families) which allow them to have a holistic approach to health ensuring that clients' physical and emotional health and wellbeing is given the utmost priority.
Anyinginyi's mission is to be a provider of high quality holistic primary health care services featuring prevention and treatment in the Barkly region in a culturally responsive way.

As a small regional centre, Tennant Creek does not have the facilities one would find in larger country towns like Katherine or Alice Springs however it does provide for all the basics that most people require. There is a supermarket similar to a large IGA store, Post Office, clothing and furniture stores, Pharmacy, Newsagent, two banks (ANZ & Westpac), restaurants and coffee shops, four hotels/motels, and a delicatessen. It also has sporting facilities (e.g. swimming pool, basketball courts, tennis court, football ground, car racing track), and several tourists attractions within easy reach Like our Beautiful Lake Mary Ann!
About the Role
This role will primarily work to address health care needs for Aboriginal peoples and their families residing in Anyinginyi Health’s four remote Barkly communities/ outstation service delivery areas (Wogyala, Corella Creek, Mungkarta and Nuramin including; other smaller Barkly outstations that may have Anyinginyi Health clients and families residing from time to time).
The Rural Remote Team Leader will coordinate and work within a small team providing community-based approach to the Barkly remote communities and outstations in accordance with the Anyinginyi Health, Primary Health Care Delivery Model. Based in Tennant Creek. You will be responsible for the day-to-day operations. Directly managing the Rural and remote health team. Provide leadership and support for this team to provide remote outreach clinics and promote health awareness and provide public health responses, health assessments, screening, treatment, management and contact tracing follow ups in the Barkly region. You will be required to participate in the continuity of patient care, being a leader and coordinator in helping improve patient and better community outcomes within the role.

Some of your responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:

  • Plan and provide regular remote outreach community screening, health assessments, and treatment for Individual clients and their families as per the Northern Territory CARPA standard treatment manual.
  • Provide referrals and bookings for both primary health care health assessments, completion of health checks, CDMP’s and referrals of them including allied health specialist appointments.
  • Provide immunisations as per the current NT immunisation schedule and including CDC guidelines.
  • Provide STI&BBV contact tracing, treatment, management and follow up.
  • Collaborate with AHAC clinics and CDC to provide follow up treatment and management of preventable diseases. Lead and provide health education awareness for population health and notifiable disease outbreaks.
  • Work in collaboration with the entire clinical team to meet the aims and objectives of the Strategic Plan.
  • Provide regular monthly quality data reports to the Clinical Practice Manager.
  • Comply with all organisational policies and procedures
  • In conjunction with the management team and the CQI officer, develop, implement and participate in continuous quality improvement projects, and initiatives and adjust clinic practice in accordance with findings.
  • Actively participate in the completion of health checks on all eligible clients (Medicare item number 715), care plans (Medicare item number 721) and team care arrangements (Medicare item number 723) on all eligible clients including regular reviews (Medicare item number 732) of clients with a chronic disease.
  • Develop and maintain strong collaborative partnerships with key stakeholders and service providers in the Barkly Region with a focus on adopting a holistic approach to ensure agencies are working together to address the key responsibilities of this position in relation to care delivery in remote communities.
  • Supervise the work within Rural Remote Team.
About you
To be considered for this position, you must Possess current registration as a Nurse and or Aboriginal Health Practitioner. and evidenced understanding of the Primary Health Care system and key issues relevant to closing the gap in health outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.
Experience working with an Aboriginal organisation or communities will be highly regarded but is not essential, provided you are able to demonstrate a clear understanding of the issues pertaining to Aboriginal Primary Health Care and the social determinants of health in our surrounding communities.
An exceptional communicator with outstanding interpersonal skills needed to tailor your approach to the needs of each family and possess the ability to identify their strengths and build effective relationships with our clients.
