Our priority is to provide the preconditions and learning support for every child to reach their full potential, while specialising in addressing the challenges to inclusion experienced by some cohorts.As a member of the Senior Executive Group, and accountable to the Deputy Chief Executive, Schools & Preschools, the Executive Director, Support and Inclusion provides strategic and innovative leadership for the realisation of the Department for Education's strategic priorities, including progressing Our Strategy for Public Education in South Australia with the purpose of helping our children and students to learn and thrive.The Executive Director is responsible for the effective design and delivery of a multifaceted environment of operational service delivery to schools and preschools, along with policy and strategic reform programs to achieve greater positive impact for children and young people.The Executive Director leads a large multidisciplinary workforce, consisting of allied health professionals, educators, policy and program staff. The Executive Director leads strategic directions, policy, programs and services focused on improving learning outcomes with a particular focus on behaviour, attendance, wellbeing for children and students with disability and additional needs, as well as supporting the inclusion of priority cohorts including children in care.The Executive Director will continuously develop and maintain a high performing culture, accountable for delivering high quality work that is responsive to the needs of South Australian children and young people.Qualifications and competencies:

  • Strong leadership skills with experience in leading teams and establishing a culture of performance, professionalism and continuous improvement.
  • Demonstrated experience managing a complex, high profile function including the strategic development, implementation, evaluation and review of major curriculum projects and programs.
  • In-depth knowledge of the impact on child development and education including relevant tertiary qualifications.
  • Proven high level interpersonal and negotiation skills with demonstrated success achieving impact through collaborative practice and influence with stakeholders and the capacity to communicate to engender trust, confidence and enthusiasm.

Special Conditions:The successful applicant is required to gain a Department for Human Services (DHS) working with children check (WWCC) prior to being employed which is required to be renewed every five years before expiry.
