The role:
As a Health and Safety Advisor, you'll have the opportunity to work for nine days each fortnight, levering your expertise to shaping a safer future for the Loy Yang’s workforce and community.
As a Health and Safety Advisor, you will:
- Provide specialist advice and support to enhance awareness and mitigate risks, ensuring compliance with organizational and legislative requirements.
- Actively engage, motivate, and influence employees and leaders to fulfill legal obligations and meet safety expectations, fostering a positive safety culture.
- Develop and distribute communications to educate the workforce on safety issues, requirements, and expectations, promoting a proactive approach to safety.
- Contribute to the development, review, and updating of policies and procedures to ensure compliance and relevance, incorporating legislative requirements.
- Participate in health and safety projects and activities, support the delivery of initiatives, and escalate safety issues as necessary to drive improvements.
- Minimum 5 years of industrial experience, preferably in the power industry.
- Tertiary qualifications in WHS Management, minimum Certificate IV in Occupational Health & Safety.
- Demonstrated experience in promoting and leading a positive safety culture, including behavioural safety programs and assurance activities.
- Proficiency in systems and programs such as reporting, leading KPIs, health surveillance program management, and competency assurance.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to influence at all levels and adapt to varying situations.
