You will provide comprehensive support as the Safety Advisor, performing a frontline advisoryrole to managers and operational staff across the infrastructure and delivery space, providing work health and safety (WHS) advice and support. Your role will also include travel to locations across SEQ.
Experience:
- Academic qualifications in workplace health and safety, or other appropriate qualification from a recognised tertiary institution will be highly regarded.
- Demonstrated knowledge of WHS legislation and departmental policies to provide sound guidance to others.
- Proven experience within a role pertaining to WHS, applying expert knowledge of management systems to improve the business (including the review, analysis and development of management systems.
- Safety experience in a laboratory and/or civil construction environment is highly desirable.
- Experience and qualifications in systems design and auditing is highly desirable.
- Valid Queensland 'C' class driver's licence or equivalent.
- The successful candidate must complete a Criminal History Check.
Key accountabilities include:
- Governance role in the delivery of branch legislative requirements.
- Drive the safety due diligence program for the branch in partnership with leadership teams, HRS, HSW Committee.
- Delivery of key agency and divisional safety initiatives aligned to project scope and schedule
- Provision of just-in-time safety coaching and training to the branch
- Monthly leadership safety updates and safety reporting
- Regular review of risk assessments in partnership with key stakeholders
- Timely dissemination of relevant safety information
- Regular audit of safety management systems
- Drive the development and review of the annual safety program
- Delivery of monthly safety messages
- Provision of coaching and training to the branch
- Conduct timely incident investigation and reporting ensuring relevant stakeholders are consulted including external agencies and governing bodies when relevant.
