UGL's utilities business undertakes essential design & construction services for critical infrastructure in the power and water sectors. Our end-to-end delivery ranges from transmission lines, switchyards, substations, electrical distribution through to water and wastewater treatment plants and water pipelines.
Our expertise includes the design, construct, commission, operate and maintain where our Utilities Team safely leads and delivers design & construct projects across Australia. Our project delivery extends to include short and long-term contracts either through self-performance works, working with Sub-contractors or through Joint Ventures. Our work spans from the engineering design through to structural, civil, electrical installation works and commissioning.
Ideally you have a few years' experience wanting more growth and experience.
Regular Site Travel is a requirement of the role.
The opportunity
The position provides advice, assistance, guidance, and support to project line management on all safety, Health and environmental issues relevant to the projects.
Key Responsibilities:
- Providing advice and support to the HSE Manager for the implementation and auditing of the Safety.
- Provide HS advice and support across a wide range of stakeholders across all sites and projects
- Implementing and communicating of compliance requirements for the UGL Safety Procedures and work standards/practices
- Develop and embed policy, standards and systems and business initiatives across all sites
- Reviewing project related incident reports for accuracy, satisfactory investigation and appropriate recommended actions
- Conduct investigations utilising ICAM methodology and provide information on incidents via reports and presentations that focus on organizational learning
- Understand and stay current in leading HSE practices, legislation, regulations, and obligations and bring new and innovative ideas to UGL
- Providing assistance to all levels of Leadership and workers in risk identification and job hazard analysis
- Monitor review and mentor safety compliance through assurance activities, inspections and observations of the workplace
- Maintains and reports safety performance statistics (incidents, manhours, frequency rates), identifying trends and implementing corrective actions
Qualifications and Experience:
- Minimum 2 years to 5 years’ experience in knowledge of HSE legislation and regulation in the utilities, construction, energy, oil and gas, mining or related heavy industry.
- Would suit someone with a few years' experience wanting more growth and experience
- Degree in Occupational Health and Safety or equivalent relevant qualification
- Lead Auditor qualifications in ISO 45001
- ICAM Lead Investigator
- Experience within a similar role in the Industrial/Construction environment.
