SMS Mining Services, a privately owned West Australian mining contractor founded in 2000. We have evolved from equipment rental to encompass maintenance and contract mining divisions.

Role Located: Welshpool, WA
About the Role:
SMS Mining Services are currently seeking a passionate and experienced Safety Coordinator to support our Safety and Training team by effectively managing all Safety and Training administration tasks and processes.
For clarity, this is not a FIFO position. The role is based at our Welshpool head office.
What we are looking for:
Reporting to the Safety Manager, key duties include:
- Accurate entry of WHS information and records into the SMS HSE system
- Supporting the maintenance and updating of our WHS systems
- Compile and distribute weekly/monthly WHS reports, Safety minutes, WHS presentations as required.
- Facilitation of HSE meetings
- Support SMS sites for safety related issues when needed.
- Assisting with injury management and supporting employees with their appointments (When required)
- Support the training department with document uploads.
- Co-ordinate training and inductions
- Point of contact for all Document Control requirements.
- Provide support of Apprenticeship and Traineeship processes.
- Other General Administration duties as directed by the Safety Manager.
- 2+ years' experience in a similar role working with HSE processes and systems, ideally in the mining industry.
- Qualifications in HSE (Certificate IV in WHS or above), or working towards, is essential for this role.
- Exposure to workers compensation / return to work requirements is preferred but not essential
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Exceptional attention to detail and organisational skills
- Able to effectively communicate professionally with a variety of behavioural and personality types
- Ability to work to deadlines and targets, work well under pressure, and respond well to changing demands.
- Ability to travel to site and provide support when needed.
- Valid C Class Drivers Licence.
