The Role

Reporting to the Risk and Compliance Manager this role is responsible for safety and compliance within our Remote Hospitality portfolio of properties. The role will involve identifying conformance with safety and compliance procedures to plan rectification and mitigation strategies and ensure proposed completion dates are being met.

The position requires the ability to write and develop polices, system procedures, audit and inspection checklists and to work with IT and software developers to systemise any standards or operating procedures and/or checklists.

Responsibilities:

  • Planning WHSE and ensuring budget targets are met.
  • Work with our property managers to provide support to ensure the implementation of WHSE projects, initiatives and improvements are on schedule.
  • Action, communicate and enforce occupational health and safety and environmental policies.
  • Ensure all activities, both strategic and operational are contributing to the organisation’s strategic plan and at all times support the organisation’s culture and its service philosophy.
  • Report any near miss event and/or incidents that has likely reputational impact on Discovery Holiday Parks.
  • Produce written reports on work project updates, issues and other matters identified including strategies on implementing resolutions.
  • Ensure each property fire management and prevention plans are current, up to date and being implemented.
  • Attending site as required to provide support during/post and significant or critical event.
  • Provide emergency response and rescue training onsite at the beginning of the tourist season.
  • WHS audits for sites/parks where required.
  • Review and ensure currency and accuracy of signage roadmap
  • Provide supporting role in reviewing and identifying continual opportunities in waste management practices.


Your Experience

  • To be successful in this role you must possess a high level of energy, self-motivation, initiative and flexibility to be able to meet our growing business demands at Discovery Parks.
  • Certificate IV in Work Health and Safety (preferred but not mandatory).
  • Knowledge in bushfire vegetation reduction control burning. (preferred but not mandatory).
  • Ability to fight bushfire and structural fires. (preferred but not mandatory).
  • Maintain First Aid and CPR certification.
  • Knowledge and experience in intermediate rescue of an injured person. (preferred but not mandatory)
  • Certificate IV in Health Care. (preferred but not mandatory).
  • Knowledge in applicable environmental laws. (preferred but not mandatory).
