Our Network Assets and Assurance (NA&A) team includes more than 2000 people from Infrastructure, Innovation, Engineering, Rolling Stock, OCMS, Strategic Asset Management and Planning and Integration. The NA&A team manage the change to the network - ensuring that the asset outcome is safe, reliable, and sustainable, both today and into the future.
About the role
Are you a dedicated safety professional with a passion for ensuring the highest standards in rail safety? An exciting permanent opportunity has arisen for a Safety Specialist to join our team with Rolling Stock at Metro Trains Melbourne. This role requires a commitment to safety excellence and will be based at multiple depots, including Craigieburn, Westall, and Newport.
What you will be doing
Conducting comprehensive safety assessments and audits Developing and implementing tailored safety programs and initiatives for Rolling Stock fleets at multiple locations.
Collaborating with maintenance and operational teams at each depot to ensure safety compliance.
Investigating incidents, near misses, and implementing corrective actions.
Facilitating safety training sessions for staff at all depots.
Keeping abreast of industry regulations and ensuring compliance with safety standards.
About you
Proven experience in a safety-related role, preferably within the rail or transportation industry.
In-depth knowledge of safety laws, regulations, and industry standards.
Familiarity with rail safety protocols and procedures.
Strong analytical skills with the ability to conduct thorough safety assessments.
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
Commitment to continuous improvement in safety practices.
Relevant qualifications in occupational health and safety and incident management (eg. ICAM)
