Our Network Assets and Assurance (NA&A) team includes more than 2000 people from Infrastructure, Innovation, Engineering, Rolling Stock, OCMS, Strategic Asset Management and Planning and Integration. The NA&A team manage the change to the network - ensuring that the asset outcome is safe, reliable, and sustainable, both today and into the future.

About the role

Are you a dedicated safety professional with a passion for ensuring the highest standards in rail safety? An exciting permanent opportunity has arisen for a Safety Specialist to join our team with Rolling Stock at Metro Trains Melbourne. This role requires a commitment to safety excellence and will be based at multiple depots, including Craigieburn, Westall, and Newport.

What you will be doing

• Conducting comprehensive safety assessments and audits Developing and implementing tailored safety programs and initiatives for Rolling Stock fleets at multiple locations.

• Collaborating with maintenance and operational teams at each depot to ensure safety compliance.

• Investigating incidents, near misses, and implementing corrective actions.

• Facilitating safety training sessions for staff at all depots.

• Keeping abreast of industry regulations and ensuring compliance with safety standards.

About you

• Proven experience in a safety-related role, preferably within the rail or transportation industry.

• In-depth knowledge of safety laws, regulations, and industry standards.

• Familiarity with rail safety protocols and procedures.

• Strong analytical skills with the ability to conduct thorough safety assessments.

• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.

• Commitment to continuous improvement in safety practices.

• Relevant qualifications in occupational health and safety and incident management (eg. ICAM)
