Job description:

About the Role

Reporting to the HSE Superintendent, through delivery of core safety processes you will support the delivery of safety outcomes across a dynamic and high performing mining operation. Through proactive engagement and coaching of operational leaders, the Safety Specialist delivers meaningful verification of work practices and standards, and provision of a level of healthy tension to drive continuous improvement in safety outcomes, every day.

You will also:


• Participate and facilitate HSE investigations and provide process guidance, coaching and quality review;
• Drive continuous improvement in safety performance through ongoing engagement with site leaders, encouraging and coaching quality field verifications and demonstrating expected standards;
• Thorough review of site and industry HSE events, encourage a strong culture of learning and embedment of safety improvements;
• Participate in risk assessments and provide quality reviews;
• Support the development of effective work management tools (procedures and work instructions) that achieve positive safety outcomes;
• Support accurate and transparent HSE data reporting and elements of the HSE governance program.

About You

This role will suit a highly capable team player who is motivated to collaborate with site and HSE teams to ensure that everyone goes home safe every day to do the things they love.

You will be a confident, self-motivated professional with at least 3 years' experience in heavy industry. Your communication and engagement skills will be strong and you will have a solid record of achieving results through influence, coaching and mentoring.

You may have formal qualifications in Health and Safety Management, Risk Management or a related field, however it will be your attitude, character and a passion for safety that sets you apart from the crowd.

You will also have:


• Experience or a fast learner with HSE management tools
• Experience in facilitating incident investigations
• Minimum of C class Western Australia (or equivalent) Drivers' license
