BENDTECH INDUSTRIES is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented experienced Sales Engineer Estimator to join our team. The successful candidate will play a key role in assisting senior engineers in preparing accurate cost estimates for steel fabrication projects, contributing to bid preparation, and supporting technical analysis activities.
Responsibilities:
- Assist senior estimators in preparing accurate cost estimates for steel projects.
- Review project drawings, specifications, and other documents to understand project scope.
- Quantify materials, labour, and equipment required for steel fabrication and erection.
- Use estimation software and tools to perform calculations and generate estimates.
- Update and maintain cost databases with current pricing information.
- Assist in the preparation of bid proposals and tender submissions.
- Collaborate with other team members to develop competitive pricing strategies.
- Ensure bids are submitted on time and comply with project requirements.
- Analyse project requirements to identify potential risks and opportunities.
- Evaluate alternative materials and construction methods to optimise cost-effectiveness.
- Conduct value engineering studies to propose cost-saving solutions without compromising quality.
- Liaise with clients, subcontractors, and suppliers to gather necessary information for estimates.
- Communicate effectively with internal stakeholders to ensure alignment on project objectives and requirements.
- Present estimate findings and recommendations to project teams and management.
- Prepare and maintain accurate documentation of estimation activities, including assumptions and methodologies used.
- Assist in the preparation of pre-construction documents and contract negotiations.
- Stay updated with industry trends, construction methods, and material pricing.
Skills and Experience:
- Degree in mechanical engineering, construction management, or a trade related field.
- Familiarity with Auto CAD software for reviewing drawings and generating take-offs.
- Understanding of steel fabrication processes, structural design principles, and Australian industry standards related to steel construction.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to perform cost calculations and identify cost-saving opportunities.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Attention to detail with the ability to meticulously review project documents.
- Team player with the willingness to collaborate and contribute to project success.
- Adaptability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet project deadlines.
- Proactive attitude towards learning and professional development.
- Previous experience in estimating, preferably in the steel industry, would be advantageous.
