Your new role
As the Sales Manager, you will actively promote and sell the company's products and services to new and existing customers. Based in their Melbourne office in VIC, you will report to the Director and lead a successful sales team, including a Commercial Manager and Business Development Manager. Your primary responsibility will be to market their products and spearhead proposals to effectively to achieve order, revenue, and margin projections across the region. Key duties include:
- Develop and implement effective sales plans to achieve order, revenue, and margin targets.
- Identify and manage new market opportunities in customer relationship management (CRM).
- Prepare and execute weekly call plans, meeting plans, and associated customer visit reports, aligning with sales projections.
- Create comprehensive customer plans for assigned accounts, including short, medium, and long-term sales potential, opportunities, contacts, and other relevant information. Present this data at regular team meetings.
- Strategically expand the existing customer base and cultivate closer customer relationships to understand their needs and provide tailored solutions.
- Collaborate with industry contacts and other business units to discover and develop new customer leads.
- Provide technical and commercial support to customers, utilizing marketing materials, presentations, and product datasheets.
- Monitor competitor activities and provide differentiation strategies to gain market share.
- Implement strategies to further develop key accounts and elevate target accounts to key account status.
- Participate in seminars, training sessions, trade conferences, and other events as required.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
What you'll need to succeed
- Bachelor's degree in a science or engineering-related field and extensive relevant work experience.
- Proven sales experience with a focus on direct selling to customers in rail transit industry.
- Ideally, a minimum of 5 years of experience in VIC and NSW in a fast-paced environment and an in-depth knowledge of railway industry practices.
- Consultative skills, capable of collaborating with senior-level decision-makers and effectively communicating the company's competitive advantage.
- Cultural knowledge and sensitivity to tactfully navigate diverse business environments.
- Willingness to travel regularly as required
