Sampler/Gauger

We are seeking a Fulltime Sampler/Gauger to join our Caleb Brett team in New South Wales.  The Sampler/ Gauger will be responsible for providing sampling and gauging services based in ports within the metro and remote area. The position will be predominantly in the petroleum inspections business, including refined petroleum products, crude oil, and petrochemicals.

• Gauging and sampling of shore tanks. 
• Gauging and sampling of vertical oil storage tanks at shore terminals.
• Cleanliness inspection of tanks and storage vessels.
• Manual handling of samples.
• Inspect road tankers.
• Supervision of loading and sampling road tankers. 
• Field inspections during ship discharges. 
• Attending ships for ship tank sampling and other duties related to bulk liquids cargo inspections at various sites in NSW.  
• Cleaning and maintaining gauging and sampling equipment.
• Disposal of samples and maintaining the sample locker in clean condition.
• Conduct basic on the field petroleum and petrochemical testing.
• Preparation of reports.
• Liaison with clients, shipping agents and vessel staff.
• General office functions.
• Ensure field notes are translated into the report for each job.
• Ensure laboratory data is collated for reports.

Selection Criteria

• Previous experience in the oil industry preferable, but not required.
• Due to the nature of the industry, a flexible attitude to work hours and location is essential, some overtime is required. 
• Current Australian Driver’s Licence. 
• Basic mathematics skills are required.
• Strong attention to detail is required.
• Physical fitness to climb shore tanks with gauging equipment and samples and ship gangways at anchorages / alongside berths.
• The position will require the incumbent to obtain and / or maintain a Maritime Security Identification Card.
