About the Role
This role reports to the Superintendent Drill and Blast and is on a 7:7 permanent day shift roster. Accommodation will be at the Dysart SPV or residential in Dysart for families. As a Drill and Blast Supervisor you will be focused creating a culture of care by being a visible safety leader, engaging, developing and coaching your team whilst ensuring an overriding commitment to health, safety, environment responsibility and sustainable production. You will also liaise heavily with other operational departments and mine planning.
Key requirements of the role include:
- Build effective relationships across multiple mine departments to support the delivery of improved production
- Positively shape culture in alignment with the BHP Charter Values
- Encourage and promote continuous improvement by constantly looking for opportunities to improve work practices and procedures
- Manage a diverse team of operators in a production environment
- Work within a team environment to meet budgeted shift targets
- Provide expertise and report events and hazards in a timely and accurate manner
- Lead and coach your team through process improvement initiatives
- Undertake performance and development reviews incorporating a documented 1 on 1 interview quarterly in line with BHP people systems
- Identify, build and develop team capability through ongoing and regular coaching, development and documented succession planning
You will have a desire to shape culture, lead a team and improve business processes. Your background in either a similar type of position or working environment will be beneficial to your success in this role.
You will also have:
- Previous supervisory experience in Drill and Blast Coal Mining
- Blasting experience
- S1, S2, S3 qualifications
- QLD Explosives Security Clearance
- QLD Shot Firers License
- G2 qualifications
- A broad understanding of the mining and processing industry
- Proven ability to influence and mentor others in HSE principles and behaviours
