Reporting to the Treatments Plant Automation Team Leader, the SCADA Commissioning Engineer will work as part of a dedicated team delivering projects within the Operational Technology group.
In addition to providing technical advice and support on SCADA and control systems, you will actively participate in the design, implementation, handover and support of any projects that have an impact on the SCADA systems at our treatment plants and be responsible for integrating new upgrades into the SCADA platform to conform to SEW standards and integrate seamlessly with the rest of the hardware and software systems in a reliable manner.
With a degree in Electrical Engineering (or related field) and a minimum of 5 years’ experience in control networks and SCADA environments, the successful candidate will also be able to demonstrate:
- Exceptional communication skills: a high level of competency in creating documents with complex technical information, network and IT-related diagrams, and automation architecture. Ability to communicate with engineering staff, contractors, internal stakeholders, and operators.
- SCADA and associated Systems experience: Substantial engineering experience and advanced knowledge across a number of technologies, products, and platforms: SCADA Systems (in particular ClearSCADA and iFix), Data Historian (such as OSIsoft PI Historian), logic systems (such as ST and ladder) and industrial communications networks
- Process Control knowledge: Extensive experience in PLC/RTU installation and programming in the utility industry. Knowledge and understanding of GE Fanuc/Emerson, Kingfisher, SCADApack, Siemens, and HMI hardware is highly desired.
- Understanding of Network Protocols: A high level of understanding of SCADA protocols such as DNP3, OPC, TCP/IP-based networks, and technologies, including industrial and IoT communication protocols
- Project management skills: High Level of project management skills is required as typical projects are of medium to large size.
- Computer usage: High level of programming knowledge, database design, network concepts, PLC and related automation systems, IP-based industrial networks, wireless communications
- Problem-solving abilities: Strong problem-solving skills for day-to-day troubleshooting through to detailed project designs to complete tasks in a timely manner for critical systems.
- Analytic skills: Ability to analyse problems and issues to determine the best path forward. Attention to detail, in particular relating to debugging, testing, and implementation of software that has a large potential impact across the business.
