Metro Trains Melbourne (Burnley Maintenance Depot) are currently recruiting a Scada Technician to assist the Senior Control and Indication Officer in the maintenance (routine and reactive), renewals and additions required on the Train Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) System to meet the requirements of the Electrical Network Asset Management Plan.
This is a full-time permanent position, working either day shifts (Monday-Friday 0700 - 1500) or varying shift work, with the roster to suit the candidate as modified in agreement with MTM.
Main duties
- Undertaking changes and additions to the Train Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition System required for new electrical network installations and alterations.
- Provide general technical support and participate in developing and implementing proposals for alterations or upgrades of the SCADA system.
- Assist the Team Leader (Senior Control and Indications Officer) to perform maintenance (reactive and routine) of the SCADA system including operator stations, communications stations, local input output stations, wallboards remote terminal units, in accordance with the Asset Management Plan.
- Assist the team Leaders in installation, configuration and commissioning of new SCADA installations.
- Assist the Team Leader to undertake hardware and software changes and installation of new equipment required for additions to or alterations of the electrical network.
- Prepare reports, written and verbal, and recommendations on all aspects of the SCADA system.
- Prepare the required picture formats and database configuration to meet the Department's requirements.
- Liaise and consult with Engineering personnel, external agencies and electronic component wholesalers regarding the maintenance and installation of the Substations Control and Indication System.
- Assist the Supervisor to plan major tasks taking into consideration construction drawings, site inspections, staff and material availability.
- Any other duties as specified by manager.
- Technical tertiary qualification or Certificate IV in a designated rail or electrical related discipline - mandatory.
- Advanced Diploma in Power Systems, Control Systems engineer or Computer Systems, or recognised suitable academic experience in related disciplines, supported by specialist training or bridging course - mandatory.
- Train Track Safety Awareness (Level 1) - mandatory.
- Experience with Unix Systems - desirable.
- Experience with configuring industrial IP Networks - desirable.
- Authorised High Voltage Operator - desirable.
- A Grade/Class Electrical License - desirable.
- Driver's license - desirable.
- A minimum of 3 years' experience in the rail or related industry - desirable.
