About Us:
This role is to support the Department of Education's Equity and Excellence Strategy through the Partnership Initiative project piloting the delivery of tailored and differentiated support to 42 regional, rural and remote Queensland schools. The pilot will be rolled out over three years and may establish parameters and requirements for longer-term support to deliver effective responses to community challenges and opportunities.The objective of the initiative is to enable participating schools to collaborate with community partners and government agencies to deliver locally responsive and integrated strategies.The initiative supports the involvement of First Nations communities in decision making to lift learning and life outcomes for young indigenous Australians.
About the Role:
Responsibilities include, but not limited to;
* With the school leader you will influence a place-based approach in your school and community by collaborating with key partners and across government agencies to deliver locally responsive and integrated strategies to school and community challenges.
* Your expertise in community engagement, coupled with your network of connections, will empower you to deliver transformative support that addresses attendance, engagement, and learning challenges, ultimately leading to improved educational outcomes for students.
* Your dedication to ensuring students attend, learn, and thrive will make the school location champions for their students, families, and the community. In your role, you will support at the school leader through the implementation of the system's Reading Commitment to ensure that all learners are developing the necessary skills to be literate, life-long learners.
Mandatory Requirements for and Identified Role:
It is a genuine occupational requirement for Identified roles that the position be filled by an Aboriginal person or a Torres Strait Islander person as set out in Section 7 of the Anti Discrimination Act 1991 for the purposes contained in Section 25 of that Act.
Verification of Aboriginality and/or Torres Strait Island heritage
For administrative purposes, in relation to an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander identified role, an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person is a person who identifies as an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person and is either:
* of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander descent;
* accepted as an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person by the Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander community in which he or she lives.
By definition a person who is not an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander cannot be employed (on any basis) to perform the duties of an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander identified role.
