St Stephen’s School is inviting applications from passionate Science Teachers (Marine and Maritime Studies and/or Biology specialisation an advantage), to join the Science Learning Area at our Duncraig Campus.
This role will be part time approx. 0.8FTE commencing Term 3, 2024 (15 July 2024).
THE ROLE
The suitable applicant will be able to deliver an engaging and relevant curriculum in a range of Science contexts using a positive, student-focused approach whilst working with students across a range of ability levels. The successful applicant will have knowledge and understanding in the Western Australian Curriculum covering planning, delivery and assessment in lower and upper school courses.
Experience in teaching Marine and Maritime Studies and/or Biology is desirable.
Ideally, suitable applicants will be dynamic, dedicated and highly motivated educators with the ability to develop high quality teaching and learning programs to meet the needs of our students. Strong knowledge and skills in being able to embed whole-school (and learning area specific) literacy strategies and implement instructional strategies that develop analytical and critical thinking skills is desired.
The successful applicant will work in collaboration with the Head of Learning Area and will join a dynamic and committed team to share in the responsibility of leading improvements in pedagogy, curriculum and programming across Years 7 to 12.

Selection Criteria (Each point to be addressed)
- Appropriate teaching qualifications and current registration with Teacher Registration Board of Western Australia (TRBWA)
- Hold a current Work With Children card
- Experience in and a preparedness to contribute to the School’s camping, retreat and extra-curricular programs.
- High levels of skill in teaching, with a willingness to innovate in order to find better practices
- A passion for teaching
- A coherent philosophy of education for Secondary students, expressed in practice
- An excellent knowledge of contemporary educational issues and directions especially in his/her learning area
- Skills and experience in developing, implementing and evaluating curriculum
- Highly developed skills in the application of technology as a learning, teaching and management tool
- An ability to foster positive relationships with students, with a commitment to their personal growth
- Participation in appropriate professional contributions to the learning area beyond the School.
- Willingness to positively and actively contribute to the Christian culture of the School.
