Appointment Pool

Hampton Senior High School (SHS) is seeking to establish a pool of enthusiastic and highly motivated Science Teachers for appointments to permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise during the 2024 school year and up to the end of Term 2, 2025. Appointments can be made from the pool at any time for commencements within the 2024 school year, up to the end of Term 2, 2025.

Suitable applicants should display the ability to provide purposeful and relevant learning experiences that cater for different student learning needs as outlined in the Western Australian Curriculum, employing research based high impact teaching strategies. Applicants with experience teaching Australian Tertiary Admission Rank (ATAR) Psychology, Chemistry, Human Biology and Physics will be highly regarded as well as highly effective general senior school and lower school teachers.

Hampton SHS is proudly a Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) school. Suitable applicants should demonstrate an ability to implement classroom management strategies that build relationships, resulting in positive student behaviour using an educative approach. They should have a commitment to inclusive education and a strategic approach in planning for improved student outcomes. The capacity to differentiate the curriculum to meet the needs of students with a range of achievement levels, language backgrounds, diagnosed conditions and learning difficulties will be highly regarded.

At Hampton SHS there are opportunities for growth and development as well as opportunities to collaborate with teachers from different disciplines to develop and deliver engaging Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) programs and electives. Experience or an interest in specialist STEM programs would be advantageous. The capacity to engage in innovative practices with an emphasis on enquiry focused learning is desirable.

ELIGIBILITY

Employees will be required to:

  • provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy;
  • consent to a Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check and obtain a current Screening Clearance Number issued by the Department of Education’s Screening Unit prior to commencement of employment
  • obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check;
  • complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement;
  • complete the Department’s training in Accountable and Ethical Decision-Making within six months of appointment and every three years thereafter;
  • complete the Department’s Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultural awareness online course within 3 months of commencement; and
  • complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.

The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
