About the Science Teacher position
HARKE is currently seeking a full-time Science Teacher specialised in VCE Chemistry or Biology to join the faculty. This ongoing position is available to start as soon as possible or by Term 3 of 2024. The school is actively interviewing candidates who are eager to contribute to a dynamic academic environment and inspire a love of science among senior students.
Skills and Responsibilities
- Develop and deliver engaging Chemistry or Biology curriculum aligned with VCE standards, ensuring students are well-prepared for examinations and future studies.
- Adhere to the school’s safety protocols in laboratory settings, maintaining a secure environment for practical experiments and learning activities.
- Utilise effective communication skills to clearly convey complex scientific concepts and foster an inclusive atmosphere that encourages student questions and participation.
- Collaborate with the science department and other staff to integrate cross-curricular initiatives and enhance the educational offerings through innovative approaches and technologies.
- Take on a leadership role within the department by mentoring junior staff and leading extracurricular activities such as science clubs or regional science fairs to promote student engagement and real-world application of science education.
- VIT Registration, or ability to gain VIT Registration by Term 3 2024
