SENIOR ACCOUNTANT Permanent Full-timeLevel 7 ($128,077 - $136,891 per annum + superannuation)The Parliamentary Services Department has an excellent opportunity for an experienced, motivated and adaptable Senior Accountant to work as part of a small Finance team. The Finance Services Unit provides accounting, financial and related administrative services to assist the Parliamentary Departments and entities in meeting their operational outcomes and corporate governance responsibilities. The Senior Accountant reports to the Chief Finance Officer (CFO) and will:assist in the management of the Finance Unit and assume the responsibilities of the CFO in their absence;develop and coordinate Finance policies and procedures; provide budgeting, management accounting and financial reporting services and advice; andcoordinate administrative services for procurement, insurance and contract administration.The successful applicant will be required to meet the following selection criteria:EssentialAn Accounting or related degree and CPA/CA/IPA professional qualifications;Experience working at a strategic level within a finance function;Experience in finance management including financial and business planning; budget preparation; financial analysis and reporting and management of financial controls;Well-developed project management skills, particularly the ability to manage multiple stakeholders (internal and external), complex issues and heavy workloads.Knowledge of application of accounting standards and corporate governance including procurement, audit and risk management Highly developed people management, leadership and teamwork skills, with demonstrated experience in leading multi-disciplinary teams;Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including high level negotiation and consultation skills; andDemonstrated experience in dealing with stakeholders across varying levels, in both public and private sector organisations.DesirableKnowledge of public sector application of accounting standards and corporate governance.
