Banyule City Council is hiring a SeniorAccountant to play a key role in the Financial Performance andPlanning team.
The Finance and Procurement department provides theefficient and compliant strategic procuring of goods and services, revenuecollection, timely payment of suppliers and staff. The department ensures thatinvestments are appropriately managed and administered and that future andcurrent financial sustainability, performance and position is appropriately monitoredand reported.
About the role:
As a finance professionalyou will contribute to the financial success of the organisation through your highlyexperienced 'hands-on' financial knowledge across capital, management, and financialaccounting responsibilities. Your financial analysis and reporting expertisewill aim to support and deliver high quality outcomes with strong customerservice.
Your role will be toassist in the preparation of Council's Annual Financial Statements, Budget andFinancial planning and reporting documents as per legislative requirements.
As a Finance businesspartner you will provide financial advice and support in the preparation ofbudgets, forecasts, reporting and analysis to assist Managers to achieve theirstrategic corporate business objectives and maintain strong adherence tofinancial compliance.
Skills, experience and certificates:
? Sound knowledge of Local Government legislation,Australian Accounting Standards including: AAS 27 ? 'Financial Reporting forLocal Governments'
? Thorough knowledge of all accounting and taxationprinciples
? Advanced skills in the use of analytical tools forinvestigating and solving problems and generating reports.
? Highly developed skills with relevant computerapplications with an emphasis on spread sheeting
? An analytical mindset towards financial data andthe ability to investigate and solve problems
? Knowledge ofand familiarity with the principles and practices of budgeting
