About the role
The Senior Financial Accountant is responsible for proactively supporting the business by delivering quality financial reporting output alongside ensuring audit coordination and compliance with accounting standards and Evolution's accounting policies. The role provides the business with a functional financial reporting environment as well as managing the implementation and improvement of accounting processes, procedures, and controls.
You will build relationships, partnering with predominantly internal stakeholders to ensure the timely provision and integrity of key reporting data (predominantly financial) and subsequent preparation of reports and data analysis. Reporting includes (not exclusively) ASX requirements, monthly consolidation, half, and full year reports, ESG and asset specific requirements as well as contributing to Evolution's financial vision and strategy to lead the business to commercial excellence.
Key result areas in this position also include:
- Responsible for the half year and year-end preparation of statutory accounts including 4D and 4E, Remuneration Report and OFR.
- Managing the month end financial close - oversee the intercompany process; review of financial journals; preparation and posting of technical journals; review of monthly balance sheet reconciliations; complete and maintain the group consolidation schedule.
- Work with the Manager Financial Reporting to address key technical accounting issues including regulatory compliance and documentation of accounting positions including the submission of Audit Committee papers.
- Responsible for the coordination of the external auditors including half year review and year end audit process. Implement changes to entity structure as required, including acquisition accounting (including on acquisition of new subsidiaries, joint ventures, investments, and farm-in arrangements) and disintegration on disposal.
- Partner with the Group Manager - Taxation for tax effect accounting and reporting including tax disclosures in the financial statements.
- Identification of improvement opportunities within the group-wide finance environment and implementation of projects to address them, communicating and implementing new financial standards as they are announced.
- Play a key role liaising with the broader finance function including shared services and management accounting to deliver an efficient financial reporting processes and outcomes.
- Commit to maintaining health, safety and security standards and principles, both within own workplace and through the identification of potential risks throughout Evolution

About you
To succeed in this role, you will be a proven Financial Accountant with appropriate Big 4/ASX based experience driving technical accounting performance (ideally associated with the resources industry) and have proven skills in reporting and analysis within multi-site operations where business partnering is essential. It is important that you have/ or can demonstrate:
- Proven ability to prepare, analyse, profile and present data, in a structured and logical format, confident in communicating, sensitive and complex financial information.
- Tertiary University Degree in Finance, Accounting, or a technical discipline and fully qualified CA/CPA
- Experience in leading month end process and working in a complex accounting environment in a consolidated group and exposure to technical accounting.
- Diligence, good communicator, ability to quickly build a rapport to form working relationships, lateral thought, and openness to new approaches.
- Strong analytical and report writing skills with solid communication skills, both written and verbal and be able to manage your energy and priorities.
This role has an attractive remuneration package including short-term incentive and share offering alongside hybrid working and CBD office whilst further developing your professional exposure. This is a corporate based role, however, the successful candidate must be prepared to travel to our sites, when required.
