Government department tasked with making life easier, accessible, and equitable for thousands of individuals and families across Australia. Currently seeking three (3) Senior Accountants to join their busy team for a 6-month temporary assignment.
About the role
As a Senior Accountant, you will provide financial reports and advice to support the business manage its group, division and branch level budgets. In addition, your key duties are as follows:
- Analyse and interpret statistical reports to assist with the development of work plans and strategic planning.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to resolve issues and ensure effective and timely implementation of projects.
- Coordinate and provide cost estimates for all internal and external requests for changes to systems.
- Develop correspondence for stakeholders, such as financial reports, corporate documentation, and responses to ministerial submissions.
- Exercise appropriate delegations in accordance with legislation and guidelines.
- Manage quality assurance activities and outcomes including the use of integrity/error reporting and the coordination of quality audits.
- Undertake detailed financial analysis of branch/division’s variance to budget and forecast.
- Perform financial administration and across the division’s cost centres and projects, including budgets, monitoring, forecasting and accruals.
About you
- Must be a Qualified Accountant in Australia
- Previous accounting experience in a medium to large organisation, ideally with background in Finance Business Partnering.
- Strong background in preparing end of month accruals, and undertaking budget reviews, monitoring and forecasts.
- Ability to provide finance advice that is consistent with accounting standards, legislation, and internal policies.
- Ability to collaborate and resolve issues with stakeholders.
- Strong analytical skills – to be able to interpret what the numbers actually mean.
