ABOUT THE ROLE
You will be able to assist with the management and development of internal, external and stakeholder communications including the development of targeted, large-scale campaigns, electronic and printed posters, video and social media content and communications from management for the Australian Public Transport Division. You will identify opportunities for proactive media and public relations events in coordination with a public relations agency and internal stakeholders. This position reports to the Communications and Engagement Manager (APT).
This position is responsible for delivering large-scale internal communications strategies, projects and campaigns at a national level, across all Australian Public Transport Divisions, with a primary focus on NSW operations.
PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND AUTHORITIES:
- Internal Communications – implement effective internal communications strategies, programs, and channels to build engagement and ensure employees are informed about business aims, objectives, relevant issues, and programs.
- Customer and stakeholder communications – implement effective strategies for communicating with customers and other stakeholders to ensure they are informed of service changes and other key business projects/objectives.
- Media Coordination – assist in the management of media issues and identify and develop opportunities for proactive media and public relations events.
- Social media – Develop content for existing social media channels and expand the use of social media as a communication channel for customers, stakeholders, and employees.
- Business Planning Documentation – Assist with the business planning process, including documentation and reporting.
- Website – update content on the Transit Systems website as required.
- Teamwork – Ability to work as part of a team and perform various roles/tasks to achieve outcomes while developing and maintaining effective team relationships.
- Any other duties as directed.
ABOUT YOU
- Tertiary qualifications in a relevant field such as journalism, communications, media or possess other relevant experience.
- Well-developed oral and written communication and presentation skills.
- Ability to work to tight deadlines in pressure situations.
- Knowledge, experience and skills in methods relating to media management, external and internal communications, including the use of social media.
- Knowledge of and experience in project management.
- Research, analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Political awareness and sensitivity.
HIGHLY DESIREABLE SKILLS
- Interpersonal skills including group facilitation, consultation, influencing and negotiating skills.
- Knowledge and experience using Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign / Illustrator / Premiere Pro).
DESIREABLE SKILLS
- Knowledge of the greater Sydney transport network and its operations and inter-relationships.
