Senior Advisor,First Nations Expenditure and Outcomes, Policy & Budget

  • Remuneration: $120,859.44 - $133,183.44 plus Superannuation and Leave Loading

Your day as a Senior Advisor

If you are passionate in a role that supports strong collaborative relationships across NSW Government and with First Nations people, provides high quality data analysis and advice on economic and financial methodologies organisations and peak bodies and have a high degree of First Nations cultural capability, we would love to hear from you! 

As Senior Advisor, you will play a pivotal role in the delivery of the NSW Indigenous Expenditure Report, including the design, coordination and embedding of a first-of-its-kind whole of government data collection process for First Nations expenditure data. 

You will shape, drive, and influence nation-leading work. You will be a strong a communicator who can present data and information to diverse audiences, including senior leaders and First Nations stakeholders. Your analysis will help to drive evidence-based resource allocation and improved outcomes for First Nations people and communities. 

This role liaises extensively with other areas within Treasury, with NSW government agencies and equivalents in other jurisdictions across Australia, and with external stakeholders.

Achieve success as a Senior Advisor

In this integral role there are a few things we would like for you to have to best support yourself and add value to the people of NSW. 

You will be successful in this role if you have: 

  • High degree of First Nations cultural competency and demonstrated experience working with First Nations data and policy. 
  • Demonstrated experience in quick, accurate and complex data analysis and problem solving, including financial and economic data. 
  • Advanced Microsoft excel knowledge and other statistical software is highly desirable. 
  • Strong ability to communicate and visualise data analysis and findings.
  • Highly desirable if you understand public sector financial management and NSW government budget processes. 
  • Tertiary qualifications in relevant discipline (e.g. economics, finance, statistics) or equivalent professional experience. 
  • Passion to work collaboratively and build relationships with a diverse set of stakeholders.
