About UsAtlas Iron is an Australian owned Iron Ore company, mining and exporting direct shipping ore from its operations in WA's Pilbara Region. We have 3 operating mines at the moment, Mt Webber, Sanjiv Ridge and Miralga Creek Operations, we are also expanding into exciting new areas for the future. To support our expanding Operations, we are seeking applications for an outstanding professional to make a difference in our growing Health and Safety team.About the roleReporting to the Superintendent Health & Safety the primary purpose of the Senior Advisor Health & Safety role is to maintain and continuously improve Health and Safety management systems while monitoring their compliance and effectiveness. Provide coaching and mentorship to personnel to ensure effective implementation. This role is Perth based in our new offices in West Perth with occasional site travel and is a 24 month maximum term contract.Main responsibilities of the role include:
  • Develop and maintain relevant documentation to support the Mines Safety Management System (MSMS).
  • Develop and deliver programs to continuously improve Health & Safety.
  • Execute health & safety audit to ensure Atlas and contractor conformance with the MSMS.
  • Review and maintain Critical Risk Management and Principal Mining Hazard Management programs.
  • Facilitate significant incident investigations using the ICAM methodology.
  • Support external regulatory reporting requirements (notifiable/reportable) within required timeframes.
  • Maintain Health and Safety data quality across systems and monitor performance against lead indicators. Identifying trends and identify effective improvement programs and initiatives.
  • Provide Health and Safety management systems coaching and training to frontline leadership personnel.
  • Lead Management of Change related to Health and Safety improvements.

You will be an individual who can think outside the box, can work autonomously, have an eye for detail with excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.To be successful in this role, you will have:
  • Demonstrated operational experience, including a minimum of 6-8 years of experience within a Health and Safety role in the resources sector.
  • Relevant recognised qualifications (Diploma or above) in Health & Safety.
  • Lead auditor qualifications - Occupational Health and Safety (OH&S) management system (desirable).
  • ICAM Lead incident investigation or similar (desirable).
  • Certificate IV Training and Assessment (desirable).
  • Demonstrated experience undertaking risk assessments with a range of internal business stakeholders in a small team or workshop-based scenarios.
  • Working knowledge of the WA WH&S Act, WH&S (Mine) Regulations and Codes of Practice.
  • INX InControl software package (desirable) and the DMIRS Safety Reporting System (SRS) experience (essential).
  • WA Drivers licence, Manual, C Class.
  • Intermediate Microsoft Office suite skills in Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
