Occupational Health Professionals established in 1985, is a comprehensive work health and safety service provider.
Our client is a New South Wales (NSW) Government Department who employs over 1000 staff members who in turn oversee a volunteer workforce of more than 76,000. The shared vision is to provide a world standard of excellence in the provision of a volunteer-based community fire and emergency service to the citizens of NSW.
To support this vision, our client has identified the need for another Safety Advisor to join the team. You will be responsible for the co-ordination and management of WHS activities across a diverse and unique environment. The position will report into a Supervisor within the Safety Team. You will be regarded as an SME, interacting with all levels in the organisation as well as providing operational WHS support and advice.
To be successful in this role you will have a strong background in the WHS sector which is complemented with exceptional organisational skills, superior communication skills and a thorough knowledge of applicable legislation.
Your day will be busy and never the same in this safety critical environment.
Your duties will involve but are not limited to:
- Design and coordinate Health and Safety programs, initiatives and training aligned with best practice standards to deliver effective outcomes.
- Provide advice and support to stakeholders to enable implementation of Health and Safety programs.
- Develop, implement, and monitor Health and Safety programs to ensure sufficient resourcing and effective delivery.
- Lead timely and comprehensive analysis of information related to Health and Safety initiatives and report on emerging trends and risks to inform key decision making.
- Engage and consult with internal and external stakeholders to ensure programs align with service delivery needs and requirements.
- Work collaboratively with consultants and service providers to meet the program objectives within the organisation for Health and Safety, workers compensation, counselling and mental health related services.
To be considered for this role, it is essential for candidates to demonstrate the following:
- Formal Tertiary Qualifications in Work Health and Safety
- Highly developed expertise in occupational health management demonstrated with a minimum of 5 years practical WHS experience;
- Ability and experience facilitating & conducting incident investigations, risk assessments and site inspections;
- Well developed communications and facilitation skills including the ability to engage with people at all levels of an organisation to broker the achievement of WHS outcomes
- Hold a current NSW Driver’s License and the ability to travel.
