About SafeWork NSW
SafeWork NSW is the state's workplace health and safety regulator. We work in partnership with businesses, workers and their representatives to create safe, healthy and productive workplaces across NSW. We secure compliance through, advice, education and enforcement of the work health and safety legislation.
We are seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic Senior Safety Advisor to be internally focused to drive best practice safety systems for our people. You will design and deliver workplace health and safety policies, processes, programs and reporting to underpin a safe environment and culture which is compliant with legislative and statutory requirements.
You will work closely with the Department of Customer Service, Safety and Wellbeing team to leverage the existing safety systems and build on these to ensure tailored solutions for the work of SafeWork NSW. You will work closely with the executive team to ensure all policies are fit for purpose and consulted across the agency.
Responsibilities of the role include:
- System to drive the continual improvement of health and Safety and minimise risks.
- Provide advice on processes and procedures to ensure work practices are driven by safety.
- Develop and design a comprehensive safety management system.
- Analyse business and safety data to identify gaps, and solutions.
- Deliver risk assessments to inform work practices, risk mitigation and continuous improvement.
- Deliver a framework for continuous improvement and review of the Safety Management System and its application.
To be successful in this role you will demonstrate:
- Formal tertiary qualifications in workplace health and safety
- Extensive experience in a Safety role delivering both physical and psychological safety
- Experience in diverse work health safety issues
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to quickly build and maintain strong relationships with executives and key stakeholders
- Ability to develop and provide practical, flexible and sustainable solutions that meet organisational needs and
- Competence in hazard and incident investigation techniques and forms of analysis
- Comprehensive knowledge and demonstrated experience in applying safety legislation and management systems
- Experience in developing and running training sessions
