Job description

The Townsville Rehabilitation Unit at Townsville University Hospital are seeking two experienced and client focused Allied Health - Seniors for temporary full-time and part-time roles, up to 30/06/2024. The part-time role works 38 hours per fortnight and there is a possibility both roles may be extended up to 30/06/2025.
Eligible Health Practitioner professions: Occupational Therapist, Physiotherapist, Social Worker, Speech Pathologist, Psychologist or Neuropsychologist.

The Opportunity
This position will deliver high level evidence based discipline-specific clinical services and case management to facilitate successful community reintegration outcomes for people with Acquired Brain Injury (ABI). This position will provide specialist training and consultancy to families, carers, and service providers for the Brain Injury Community Integration Service which is integrated with the THHS rehabilitation services continuum.
The Statewide Brain and Spinal Cord Injury (BaSCI) Project is a Commonwealth funded project undertaking design, implementation, and evaluation strategies locally to enhance rehabilitation services for people with Acquired Brain Injury (ABI) and spinal cord injury (SCI) across the care continuum to:

  • Optimise patient access, experience and outcomes
  • Boost system capacity, capability and performance
  • Ensure equitable patient access to high quality care irrespective of geography
  • Improve coordination and integration of services across all phases of care
  • Standardise contemporary approaches to care
  • Improve the effectiveness and efficiency of health services
Role requirements
  • Eligible Health Practitioner professions: Occupational Therapist, Physiotherapist, Social Worker, Speech Pathologist, Psychologist or Neuropsychologist.
  • A post-graduate qualification in a relevant field will be highly regarded.
  • This position requires the incumbent to operate a class C motor vehicle and appropriate licence endorsement to operate this vehicle is required. Proof of this endorsement must be provided prior to the commencement of duty.

The ideal applicant will be someone who has proven ability and can demonstrate the following:
  • Demonstrated high level knowledge, expertise, and skills in interdisciplinary ABI rehabilitation and/or community rehabilitation.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide clinical services of a complex nature, where established principles, procedures and methods require some expansion, adaptation, or modification.
  • Demonstrated ability to initiate, plan, and evaluate local service improvement initiatives, and provide clinical supervision to less experienced Health Practitioners and students.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate within a multidisciplinary team and with a broad range of stakeholders and to provide high level clinical advice to improve service delivery.
