Commercial Transactions
The Commercial Transactions team provides transaction advisory services and advice on whole of State negotiations and commercial transactions. This includes identifying asset reform opportunities to optimise the State's balance sheet management as well as overseeing post transaction governance for complex commercial transactions.
Our objective is to ensure the benefits, costs and risks are understood so that Government is able to make informed decisions.
The team has broad expertise in a range of disciplines including project management and finance, economics, finance and accounting, policy development, industrial relations and law. As a result, we can quickly provide concise, considered and expert advice on complex matters.
About the role
Two fixed term opportunities are available, one ending 12 months from commencement and the other ending on 30 November 2024. In the Commercial Transactions Senior Analyst role, you will:
- Provide policy, risk management, and commercial advice on complex projects and transactions to executives, agencies, departments, and Ministers.
- Ensure consistent use of best practice policy and processes through advisory services.
- Consult and liaise with key stakeholders in the public and private sectors to inform policy making and protect the State's ongoing commercial and financial interests.
- Collaborate with departments and agencies on project delivery and operational issues.
- Conduct research and analysis for significant government reform opportunities and structuring commercial transactions.
- Demonstrate initiative and contribute to the team's strategic business planning and decision-making process.
About You
We are seeking applications from candidates with demonstrable experience in:
- Navigating Government decision-making processes and providing policy, systems thinking, commercial, and/or economic analysis.
- Identifying or supporting significant government reform opportunities and providing strategic and pragmatic advice to departmental officers and Ministers.
- Strong communication skills, including presenting written information and data to highlight key findings and options for decision-makers within tight timeframes.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to initiate and maintain effective relationships internally and externally.
- Project management and organizational skills with a proven ability to display initiative and provide required outcomes in a timely manner.
Experience and Qualifications:
- Strong background and experience in a commercial, economics, public policy, or analysis role.
- Experience in working as part of a team involved in diverse and varied business activities.
- Understanding and interpreting financial models and balance sheets.
- Experience in procurement initiation and delivery consistent with organizational policies.
- Development and preparation of documents for both internal and public distribution.
- Relationship building, influencing, and negotiation skills.
- Formal qualifications in a related field (Commerce, Economics, Finance, Technology, or Law) will be well regarded.
